4.Attitudes
What is Attitude?
A psychological state of mind is referred to as an attitude. It is a person's style of thinking about things that ultimately defines their actions. Employees can have a favorable or negative attitude toward individual job duties, products or services, coworkers or management, or the organization as a whole in the workplace.
Apathy toward daily work is a result of bad attitudes. Minor issues can easily upset employees. Tasks are executed to a poor standard.
Employees with a positive attitude make workdays more fun. Tasks are completed more efficiently and without complaint. When an employee considers a negative customer service contact as an opportunity to alter the customer's story from a bad to a good one, that is an example of a positive employee attitude.
How attitude affect to employee's outcome
In most circumstances, a positive attitude leads to positive behaviors, while a negative attitude leads to negative behaviors. Employees who believe in the company's products are more inclined to engage favorably with customers. Employees who like one other and have faith in management are more productive and have lower turnover.
When employees are compelled to work long hours on a regular basis without receiving additional compensation, a negative attitude often develops and spreads throughout the department, causing performance and effectiveness issues.
In the Workplace, Evaluating Work Attitudes
Because work attitudes can reveal who will go or stay, who will perform better, and who will be more involved, firms should keep track of employee satisfaction and commitment levels. If there are issues at the company level that are making people unhappy and disengaged, they must be addressed. Attitude surveys and exit interviews are two systematic techniques for companies to measure employee perceptions. Periodic attitude surveys are conducted by companies such as KFC and Long John Silver restaurants, the SAS Institute, Google, and others to track employee work attitudes. If replies are kept anonymous, companies can gain more out of these polls. Employees are less likely to react honestly if they are concerned that their particular responses will be shared with their immediate management. Furthermore, the credibility of management is critical to the success of these surveys.
